Undersecretariat of the Defense Industry (SSM) head Murat Bayar has said Turkey Will launch a tender for the "direct sale" of 50 attack helicopters next month, according to American Defense News magazine.

it comes af ter the postponement of a project stiptilating joint production of so attack helicopters in Turkey for the 'TUrkish Armed Forees (TSK) last month. Bayar said that both American and European firms would be İnvİted to tender for the helicopters manufacture.

Notwithstanding 'that the prevİous tender tasted a long time,it was cancelled due to not being taken up, and it was subsequently announced Turkey was to reconstruct the
project.

According to the same source,Turkey has taken up an option to buy Turkish Aerospace Industry's (TN) 42 percent share owned by the American Lockheed Martin firm. TAI produces F-16 wat planes.

This initiative aims at reconstructing the Türkish defense industry.
