Israel said to be planning to sell Arrow air defense systems to Turkey

Israel is reported to be willing to sell Arrow missile defense systems to Turkey, in an effort to revitalize an old offer.

According to a report published by the Defense News, Isareli officials will request permission from the George W. Bush administration for the sale of the system to friendly states.

Gen. Amos Yaron, a senior official of the Israeli Defense Ministry, reminded that former President Bill Clinton was not keen on such a project.

An Israeli mission, to be headed by Yaron, is reported to be visiting Washington this week to meet with the U.S. Defense Department at the Pentagon to discuss the project.

Yaron did not name the "friendly states" to which they are planning to sell Arrows. However, defense sources in Washington commented that Turkey is the leading state, among those friendly states.
