General Staff defends CASA aircraft

  • Unfounded allegations by non-experts regarding the aircraft are harming the Turkish defense industry

The General Staff has issued a 20-page statement regarding the CN-235-100M CASA light transport aircraft, three of which have crashed in four months, the Anatolia news agency reported yesterday. The statement noted that CASA flights were continuing without let up just as before the accidents.

The statement criticized media coverage of the three accidents and irresponsible speculation as to the cause of the crashes including casting aspersions on the Light Transport Aircraft project as a whole. "There has been no systematic fault in the project to date," read the statement and went on to say that speculation by people not qualified to make any comments on the accident were causing the Turkish defense industry much harm.
